The concept of “Black”

“The concept of “black” as a metaphor for race was first used at the end of the 17th century when a French doctor named Francois Bernier divided up humanity based on facial appearance and body type. He proposed four categories: Europeans, Far Easterners, Lapps, and finally Blacks who he described as having wooly hair, thick lips, and very white teeth.”

Many people believe that a nation of people went into captivity and prior to the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade we have no knowledge of where they came from, why they were made to be slaves, and how the enslavement of a large mass of about 20 million people was made possible. One may ask a simple question why is it that these men can’t seem to tell us what happened to this people. The majority of these so called intellectual men study archeology, history, and anthropology. They can dig up a skeleton that has been buried for centuries and tell you how he died, as well as what his last meal was. These men can allegedly go to the moon, predict weather patterns, give analysis on the stock market, but can’t figure out what happened to these “Black People” to bring such a judgment on them. We are all aware that this was no normal event but an event like unto no other tragedy in history. Why can’t they tell us what happened? Could it be that they know but don’t want us to know? Perhaps the answer is that they don’t want us to know what happened because it could possibly connect us to the true nation of Yisrael “Israel”. Why is our history such a secret to us? Could it be possible that the world is hiding something? Well, according to the scripture the Nation of Yisrael is called the hidden ones. Could this be a coincidence that the “Black” man’s identity being kept secret fulfills this passage of scripture?

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. (Psa 83:3 KJV)

The Sons of Ham

Nimrod, the son of Cush, is believed to be “Sargon the Great”. He is also a “black” skinned man and the first world ruler (Gen 10:9; 10). I emphasize that according to scripture Ham was the father of the children who populated the “Mesopotamian” lands of Babel, Erech, Accad, Calneh, and the land of Shinar. This land is equivalent to the region of Iraq, Syria, and Turkey but historically known as Babylon, Summer, and the land of Cush. The kings of the land of Babylon were a black skinned people. There were other countries that where inhabited by the “black skinned sons of Ham wich include Mitsrayim “Egyptian”, Cush who is the father of the Ethiopians, Phut the father of the “Libyans”, and last but not least the Canaan the father of the Canaanites of whom the Yisraelites did a lot of mixing with. Selah!

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. (7) And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. (8) And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (9) He was a mighty hunter before YHWH: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before YHWH. (10) And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (11) Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, (12) And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. “Additionally the children of Ham possessed the land from Syria and Amanus, and the mountains of Libanus; seizing upon all that was on its sea-coasts, and as far as the ocean, and keeping it as their own. (Works of Josephus.)

“The Cursed be Canaan”

The scripture does not state that Ham was cursed but his seed Canaan. Unfortunately, passages such as these have been used by various commentators to sanction the enslavement of “black” people. Notice in the following quotes from various commentaries which denote that Ham’s posterity was cursed. However, on these accounts one could imply that all black people were cursed to be slaves if you accept the most popular teaching “all black people descended from Ham.” However, the scripture explicitly says “cursed be Canaan” not Cush, Mizrayim, or Phut which were “black” people as well. Selah!

“A prophetic declaration is made that from Ham will descend an inferior and servile posterity.”(C.J. Scofield Notes.)

“When his youngest son saw this, he came laughing, and showed him to his brethren; but they covered their father’s nakedness. And when Noah was made sensible of what had been done, he prayed for prosperity to his other sons; but for Ham, he did not curse him, by reason of his nearness in blood, but cursed his prosperity: and when the rest of them escaped that curse, G-d inflicted it on the children of Canaan.” (Works of Josephus the Antiquities of the Jews; book 1 Chapter 6 Section 3)

Does not this refer to what was pronounced by Noah, Genesis 9:26, against Ham and his posterity? Did not the curse of Ham imply slavery, and nothing else? (Adam Clarke's Commentary on the New Testament)

Finnis Dakes, in his commentary on “The Curse of Ham”, makes a bold statement in favor of “white supremacy” basically ignoring the contributions of the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians and all other non Japhetic civilization. Christian Teacher Dr. Fredrick Price stated:

“The Lord has led me to go back to the past and pull up the roots that have produced the present! I have never said nor inferred that Dr. Dake was a racist. After all, I have never met him. I operate on the basis of two Biblical principles among many others, which state in Matthew 12:33 "Either make the tree good, and His fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt and His fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by His fruit." And 1 Thessalonians 5:22, "Abstain from all appearance of evil."

However, the Dake’s publishers stated that “Dr. Dake never intended for his reference notes to be used to support racism of any kind.” Here is a direct quotation from his commentary which states:

“…Prophecy that Japheth would be the father of the great and enlarged races. Government, science, and art are mainly Japhetic. His descendents constitute the leading nations of Civilization.” (Dakes Annotated Reference Bible; O.T. page 9 column 1 letter J.)

Although these so called scholars have filled the “Christian Bookstores” and have sanction the enslavement of “black people” with these teachings in the “Church” the scripture explicitly states that the curse was on Canaan not the “Black” Race. The scripture states that Canaan would be cursed.

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. (Gen 9:25 KJV)

Yisrael intermarried with the children of Ham.

The scripture tells us that Yoseph “Joseph” the son of Yisrael took to wife the daughter of Potifer, the “Egyptian”. She bore unto him Ephraim, and Manasseh who were both sons of the nation of Yisrael. Contrary to popular opinion as depicted in the movie “The Ten Commandments” the Egyptians were not European but of a dark race and complexion. The mother of Ephraim and Manasseh was a “black” skinned “Egyptian” woman.

And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. (Gen 46:20 KJV)

Also, Yahudah “Judah”, the father and ancestor of King David and the Messiyah Yahshuah, had a son named Pharez by the Canaanite woman who was a daughter of the sons of Ham a people of color.

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which YHWH shall give thee of this young woman. (Rth 4:12 KJV)

Additionally, Mosheh “Moses” under went persecution by his family when he married a non covenant Cushite “Ethiopian” woman.

And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. Num 12:1 KJV

Furthermore, recall in the story how that Miriam became leprous white as snow after that she and Aaron spoke against Mosheh. When Aaron saw the curse of white skin he repented. This makes it more realistic when the reader understands that they were a “black” skinned people.

This is a picture of a black man turned white due to taking a pill for a liver condition. Notice that his skin is changing from his original color “black” to white skin. This is how a person with leprosy would have appeared during the time of the early pioneer of the scriptures.

This picture shows how Mosheh’s hand would have appeared to him when he took it out of his bosom.

And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. (Num 12:10 KJV)

And YHWH said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. (Exo 4:6 KJV)

And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. (Exo 4:7 KJV)

Salma the son of Nashon was the father of Boaz thru the Canaanite woman Rahab. Obed was born to Boaz thru Ruth the Moabite woman of color. Both Canaanite and Moabite blood was in the ancestry line of David.

And Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz, And Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse, And Jesse begat his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimma the third, Nethaneel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, Ozem the sixth, David the seventh: (1Ch 2:11-15 KJV)

King Shelomoh “Solomon” was the son of David thru the Hittite woman Bathsheba. The Hittites were decedents of the sons of Ham an “African” people if you will.

And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him. (2Sa 12:24 KJV)

“The conclusion also agrees with the Old Testament statement that the Hittites were akin to the descendants of Ham in Babylonia, and not to the “fair” tribes (Japheth), including Medes, Ionians and other Aryan peoples.”

Shelomoh “Solomon” took unto himself many of these daughters including the daughters of Esau, Egypt, Moab, Ammonites, Zidonians, and the Hittites.

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; 1Ki 11:1

Additional, the Messiyah Yahshuah, the savior of the world who the King James translators substituted his name with “Jesus”, had Canaanite, Moabite, and Hittite blood in his ancestry all a people of color.

…The book of the generation of Yahshua Messiyah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias; (Mat 1:1-6 KJV)

Unfortunately, since the “New Testament” is the main focus in Christianity we often miss important detail by not reading the “Old Testament”. Many people make the scriptures a religious book and totally ignore the historical, covenant, and prophetical books. Furthermore, in some circles they quote “we are not under the law but under grace…the Old Testament has been fulfilled.”

Similarities between Ham and Shem

Ham, son of Noah. As Shem means “dusky,” or the like, and Japheth “fair,” it has been supposed that Ham meant, as is not improbable, “black.” This is supported by the evidence of Hebrew and Arabic, in which the word ham means “to be hot” and “to be black,” the latter signification being derived from the former. The Ancient Greek historian Herodotus, who visited Egypt in the 5th century B.C.E., saw the Egyptians face-to-face and described them as black-skinned with woolly hair.

Abraham, who was the patriarch of Yisrael and a descendent of Shem, had his origin of nativity in the land of Ur of the Chaldea’s in the Babylonian empire. Prior to adventuring out from his kindred in Ur he spent his early years living among the sons of Ham. Just as the “black man” has experienced in America, it is very hard to live in a land and not be influenced by the culture, religion, and government.

And he said unto him, I am YHWH that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

What is often over looked is the fact that the children of Yisrael constantly mixed with the children of Ham the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and the Jebusites. Yisrael has a similar appearance like the children of Ham, a burnt skinned” people.

And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites: (6) And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their mighty ones. (7) And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of YHWH, and forgat YHWH their Elohiym, and served Baalim and the groves. (8) Therefore the anger of YHWH was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years. (9) And when the children of Israel cried unto YHWH, YHWH raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. Jdg 3:5-9

Additionally how Shaul, “Paul” was mistaken for a Mitsrayimite “Egyptian” because he had the similarities in his appearance to the Egyptians.

Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers? Act 21:38 KJV

Another place in scripture we find the Messiyah Yahshuah, the savior of the world taken into Egypt to hide from Herod until. How could the Messiyah, erroneously called “Jesus”, hide among the Egyptians a “Black” skinned “Negroid”, “African” looking people if he did not have the features of the people of the land of Egypt.

And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. (14) When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: (15) And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of YHWH by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. Mat 2:13-15

Modern Egyptians

Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith YHWH. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir? Amo 9:7

The Term Negro

History tells us that in approximately 1492 CE the enslavement “black” people began in Portugal by the Portuguese who are primarily a mixture of the decedents of Esau the “Sephardim Jew” (2Kings 17:24).

And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

During 1492 is when the term Negro began to be used by the Spanish and Portuguese to refer to dark-skinned people, especially indigenous Africans. The term Negro means "black" in the Spanish, Portuguese and ancient Italian languages. It was derived from the Latin word niger of the same meaning. Some “Black” Christians feel as though it’s ok to be called niger since the term is in the “bible” (Acts 13:1). However, the fact of the matter is the term niger has it’s origin in Latin not Hebrew. Furthermore, it is a descriptive term and not a nationality. Selah! Niger was a broad term used in reference to a people who were called by the gentiles Moors and Berbers from North Africa. Another descriptive word for black is colored. "Colored" was originally a term for persons of mixed African and Caucasian and/or Native American ancestry. Coloreds and mixed Creoles generally were accorded higher status than blacks. Later, "colored" was used to refer to all blacks, due to the difficulty involved in maintaining these distinctions. Somehow, we seem to always allow other people to define us as a people in there own words and language and not ours.

“I am black?”

The song of Shelomoh “Solomon” is a very interesting story about a man who is in love with a “black” skinned woman who tells that her complexion is dark. In this passage begins by saying “I am Black” because the sun has looked on me. The word “Black” in this phrase needs to be clarified. The word Black is of Hebrew origin “Shachor” meaning dusky, jetty, jet black. The Queen said she was black as the tents of Kedar which is the same as saying (dusky, ashy, or dark in color). The next phrase “looked on me” is the Hebrew “Shazaph” meaning to tan or burned skin. When you look for an explanation in most commentaries this passage is very seldom expounded on.

I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. (6) Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept. Son 1:5-6 KJV

The prophet Yermiyah “Jeremiah” spoke concerning his people Yisrael. He declares that he is hurting for his people. The Nation of Yisrael had gone into captivity due to disobeying the command of YHWH. What is interesting to note is that he makes a profound statement “I am Black” This word is also taken from the Hebrew Qadar/Kedar which means dusky, ashy and dark in color.

For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. Jer 8:21 KJV

As previously stated, passages like these are often over looked and remain unexplained in the general religious world. However, it does not take away from the reality that the ancient Yisraelites were a people of color. It’s a fact that many scholars including Josephus the “Jewish” historian, as well as the renowned author C.I. Scofield D.D., of the Scofield Reference Study Bible, agree that the sons of Ham were of color. The sons of Ham were Cush, Phut, Mitsrayim “Egypt”, and Canaan.

So often we trace our history back to Mitsrayim “Egypt” the cradle of civilization” or Nubia the eastern land of Cush on the other side of the river. However, a large majority of “black people” remain in the dark when it comes to the other part of civilization that historically was the first religious, culture, and government system, Babylon. Additionally the Garden of Eden is believed to have been situated in the Babylonian land called in the Hebrew tongue the Aram NaHarayim. Aram NaHarayim means the land between the rivers, and compasses the land of Cush. This land was renamed the “Mesopotamia” by the Gentiles (sons of Japheth) who conquered the land.

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. (Gen 2:10-14 KJV)

Lost Identity

Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have set apart for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 1Ki 9:7 KJV

The true identity of the “African Americans” as a direct result of slavery including the African slave trade has been lost, and stolen for over four hundred years. The scripture tells us that the chosen people were called hidden ones. Could it be a coincidence that the “African Americans” have a lost identify and have become known as “the hidden ones”? Perhaps a lost identity is not truly lost identity but stolen one. Selah!

Portuguese had an impact on the entire region. We know for a fact historically the “Africans” were transported from their original homeland to North and South America, including Brazil, the Caribbean islands Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti, and many other Island and lands over seas. The sad part is that the majority of “Black” people have no knowledge of their ancestry prior to the early 1700’s. Every since being brought into America, people of color “The Black Man” have been in search of their true identity. We as a people have been classified as Negro’s, colored, black, African Americans. Many expressions in rap songs written by “black people” refer to themselves as niggers, thugs and gangsters. We as a people to have added to the fulfillment of scripture by giving our own self nick names. Have you ever stopped to wonder why “black people have to always refer to each other by nick names? Some times we don’t know the persons original name because we’ve always called them by a byword “nick name” We have even given each other nick names like “pookie, boo, etc… We also refer to each other with slang names such as smack, slick, dog, my nigga, the “b” word, the “h” word as well as other vulgar terms which are too censored to express in this writing. Why is that we feel that it’s cool to use such derogatory terms when making reference to each other. Could it be that we are fulfilling what the scripture has said would happen to the Israelites?

Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. (Psa 44:14 KJV)

The Land of Africa

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. (2) And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. (3) And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. (4) And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah. (5) And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. Gen 25:1-5 KJV

When attempting to define the "black man" the term "African-American” is generally accepted. However, Africa and America are both continents, and do not accurately explain our heritage. Many reliable historical resources tell us that Africa was named after Epher the grandson of Abraham thru his wife Keturah after the death of Sariyah "Sarah." (Gen 25: 1-4) To this day there are still many tribes who inhabit the land of Epher or Afri “Africa”. After the expansion of the Roman Empire the land became known as “Africa”. In more recent times the land was reclassified as Africa which excluded the land of Yisrael “Israel” and renamed it the Middle East. The known land of Africa is not the place of origin for all people of color. History as well as the scriptures places the origin of man in the area which has become known as Iraq. The land where civilization began was not called Africa but the “Mesopotamia” which in Hebrew tongue is Aram Naharayim.

Religion is not a Race

While other ethnic groups can trace their ancestry back to its roots, most people of color are not fully aware of their true national origin. Many have just settle in on being of African origin or decent. Although this has been accepted by a majority it is far from the truth. Furthermore, often when we are asked our heritage we resort to using religions such as Islam, Christianity, and in some cases Judaism to define our selves. However, we must realize there is no religion that can explain our past but the scriptures on the other hand tells our past, present and future.

Islam uses the Koran which basically deals with the principles of submission to Allah. “Allah is the name of the moon “g-d”. Christianity did not originate with the Messiyah Yahshua, but it originated with Constantine the emperor of Rome. Furthermore, followers of the Messiyah were called Messianites not Christians. The usage of the word came from the Council of Nicaea which was held in 325 AD. The nature of the gathering was to establish the dogma for the Christian Church. Constantine was a pagan sun worshiper who mixed Greek mythology with the faith of the Hebrews-Yisraelite followers of the Messiyah and called it Christianity. He did this to satisfy his kingdom of people who were heavily involved in the worship of Zeus, and Dianna. Shaul “Paul”, the apostle to the Gentiles (Romans 11:13) constantly had problems with the Greeks and their “dumb idols”. (1 Corinthians. 12:2) The actual term Christ is a substitution for the Hebrew word Mashiyach transliterated “Messiah” and means anointed one (Dan 9:25). The root word for Christ did not have it’s origin in Yisrael, but began being used early in the Roman Empire. Many of the Christian Practices were taken from the worship of the Hindu Kristna. and the Persian Mithras. They celebrate the birth day of their deities on December 25^th. The observance of Good Friday and Easter is of pagan origin and celebrates the feminine deity Estarte or Astarte. Furthermore, if have accepted the Messiyah you should refrain from such titles. The phrase Messianite, or follower/believer in the Messiyah is a real good choice. Unfortunately the scripture has been made out to be a religious book and is now erroneously called the “Holy Bible”. However, it gives us a detail of our history, and history of the nations of the world. Historians tell us that the "black man" as a result of the persecutions by the world powers and religious leaders, were forced to migrated in route through the Trans-Saharan desert into the land what is now know as Africa. Due to forced migrations we went from Babylon to Timbuktu; from the west coast of Africa to the shores of America; and scatter among the nations. The bible clearly states that the same thing would happen to the nation of Yisrael if they disobey the commandments of Yah.

Judaism did not originate with the children of Yisrael as is commonly taught in religious circles. However, it is a religion that was started by a sector of people who are called the Jews. The Jews, who are in fact Gentiles, mixed some of the teachings of the torah with their own customs called the Jewish law. The primary source for their teachings extends from the Babylonia Talmud. The Babylonia Talmud was not given to the original children of Yisrael but was recorded by the Jewish Rabbis and prepared for the “Jews”. The Father YHWH never gave Yisrael a Babylonian Talmud as a spiritual guide. Furthermore, the practices of Babylon were forbidden. The largest populations of the Jews who live in the land of Yisrael today are not the ancient Yisraelites. The majority of the Jews are Ashkenazi who migrated to Germany, Hungary, Poland, Russia, and Eastern Europe. Their original land of nativity is in the kingdom of the Khazars. There are many sources which prove that these people who we call “Jews” are not the chosen people. The scripture speaks of a people who are not Yahudah but are the imposters from the Synagogue of Satan. The Heavenly Father gave a covenant, not a religion to Abraham. On the contrast the Jewish religion bases their teachings primarily on the Mishnah, the Talmud, and the Midrash. We will give more detail regarding the Jews latter in this discussion.
